   I am new to WP, and also just updated to 2.9.1
   This may not be a THEME related question, and if that is the case, I would like to appologize to everyone....

   I think might be problem is Permalink related...

   I have been receiving a BILLION e-mails like this :

   subject : Bad Link To ....

   "A user tried to go to http://www.mydomain.net/myblog/myblog/category/free/food/Banner-4%20image and received a 404 (page not found) error. It wasn't their fault, so try fixing it. "

   Obviously the problem is here : http://www.mydomain.net/myblog/myblog

   "myblog" should not be their twice, but what is causing this ?

   I have added the following to the .htaccess file :

   <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
   RewriteEngine On
   RewriteBase /gay_porn_blog/
   RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
   RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
   RewriteRule . /my folder/index.php [L]
   </IfModule>

   and I am trying to use this kind of link structure :

   /%year%/%category%/%postname%/

   in the Custom Structure window...

   and yet I am receiving a huge amount of e-mail concerning links that should never existed from the beginning...

   Can anyone please help ? I Posted a similar help request about 10 days ago and nobody seems to care about me... and I am sad...

   I would like to appologize to everybody... I am totally lost... I have not idea if my question is "theme" related...
   I made a few tentative posts in the hope that things would become clear as I go along... and, well that is not the case... My cat could be doing this and for the moment it wouldn't make much of a difference...

   How ? where ? can I add "ad" banners ?
   when I post something and indicate the categories, and later view the post I get 404 errors ... do I need to add new directories for the various categories and posts ? the categories don't seem to "find" each other... but to start with the "ads" tags... where and how can I change the banners ? I am so frustrated I want to kick the neighbor's dog ....
   thank you anyone for your pity and patience I am, totally lost.

   Your theme bt Extended has advertising areas where image&url links have to be set via the theme options page,
   those error messages are generated by the 404 theme page to remind you to set all options,
   so nothing is hacked or wrong, just some options are missing.

   And the url is set via the folder structure, seems like you uploaded bt EX and inside the BTExtended folder, move the BTExtended folder one up,
   see url for reference:
   .../my_blog/wp-content/themes/bt EX/BTextended/style.css

   Yes, posting to both is possible.

   my current structure is exactly : .../my_blog/wp-content/themes/bt EX/BTextended/style.css "

   I also thought it was a directory hierarchy problem... but
   I finally have succeeded it getting my permalinks to work correctly,

   ( /index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%category%/%tags%/%postname%/

   would not work for some reason, if I remove %tags%/, this DOES work :
   /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%category%/%postname%/ )

   HOWEVER, there does seem to be some directory confusion at some point, I am receiving a billion e-mails telling me :

   "A user tried to go to yourdomain.net/your_blog/your_blog/wp-content/themes/btEX/BTextended/images/feed.gif and received a 404 (page not found) error. It wasn't their fault, so try fixing it.
   They came from yourdomain.net/your_blog/"

   OBVIOUSLY, the problem is at : yourdomain.net/your_blog/your_blog/wp-content/

   (/your_blog/your_blog/) perhaps the problem is theme related ? but something somewhere is trying to find my WordPress folder "your_blog" one directory deeper than it is...

   BUT I finally got the permalinks to work correctly... so I am, as always,

   LOST & CLUELESS.

   any ideas ? thank you for your help.

   BT Extended... for some reason I cannot save Slider category preferences... I save it, and it remains at "select a category"...

   any ideas ?

   I am using the Open in New Window Plugin, and it seems to be working very well, except with the "sponsor" links integrated in my BTExtended them.... any way to fix this ?

   host
   hosting details (plan)
   wordpress install (where = root? or subdomain)
   subdomain = yourdomain.net/your_blog/
   wordpress version
   plugins used
