   The post area which shows the number of comments on the front page doesnt allow all of the text to be shown, im not sure if this is because i have disqus comments enabled

   open article.php, article2.php, article3.php
   change line 8
   <?php comments_popup_link('0', '1', '%'); ?>
   to your likings.

   thanks for the attention, however im not sure what values to put so it shows up, ive played around a little bit with little success, or perhaps i didnt explain the issue correctly, on the top right corner of each of the top 3 articles where it says "0 comments" or "view comments" it cuts off and I can only see "0 comme" and part of the n, this doesn't occur in a pop up,

   You can use one of those altering comment codes from Function Reference/comments number instead of the base code:
   <?php comments_popup_link('0', '1', '%'); ?>
   from ArtFull.
