Hi Milo;

I think that your templates are terrific.

I am attempting to set up two Blogs using WordPress. I really like Munch and Fog for their visual impact and I think that these themes nicely complement the flavour of the sites. A great discovery!

I am busy trying to learn enough CSS so that I can be independent in implementing a few modifications, but it is a daunting task. I apparently know just enough to be dangerous.

The first thing that occurred to me is that it might be helpful if I only had to find my way around one theme, so I would like to use the Fog theme for both of them, but introduce the Munch graphics to one of them to differentiate each.

I think that in time I can figure out how to migrate the Much graphic elements to Fog, For testing it I just moved the bg.jpg of the header, and it needs some work.

When I do this it is obvious because of where the navigation lives that I will need to modify the nav titles. I figured out how to modify the font size, but after a few hours I am still stymied as to how to change the colour which will improve the readability issue caused by where they land on the graphic.

As well, although I could probably use the “Pages”, I would really like to ad another nav title to directly access (in one step) a page. Trying to accomplish this has confounded me too.

I suspect that you have probably already provided guidance to a number of lost souls like myself on these matters. If it exists, could you please point me to anywhere where there may be a few hints to help me along the path? It could be a while before I get my CSS skills up to speed and I am looking forward to beginning my adventure in Blogging.

Thank you so much.

Cheers,

Ray

sorry to report but ccleaner didn't change anything.
You using the latest fog-version for your showcase or an older one? Still think it has something to do with probably one small difference between my theme-version (which is unmodded except for the things mentioned in this thread) and the one of the showcase/newvox-site. Or any other ideas?

Strange behaviour, works in ie rather than in fox,
might be caused by fox' cache,
please check ccleaner if you're using windows,

thank you but sadly didn't really change anything...IE still works and Firefox still shows the picture not adapted to screen-size (btw can provide screenshots if they help anything?). Did clear browser-cache and everything; also developer tools in IE show the changed style.css line in effect.

any other ideas? As I said, strange thing is that your fog-showcase(and newvox.org) somehow work right in my firefox though the css isnt really different in the end. Btw my resolution where the problem is showing is 1600*1050.

also a probably "stupid" question...but perhaps easy to answer for the creator of the theme:

when I look at my blog with firefox on monitors with pretty high resolution, the picture somehow isnt scaled (though it would still have the "reserves" to do it to that size) while e.g. in Internet Explorer it is done as expected.
Strange thing is, that your showcase-fog or eg. the newvox.org site fog-theme do work perfectly (i.e. scale the image) also in firefox. Did a comparison of the style.css to mine but didnt find any differences there explaining that differing behaviour. So pretty lost how this could be.

The tipps concerning original question worked btw :) - very happy with the theme!

Hi,

first congratz and thank you for this really beautiful theme...did look through LOADS of themes and also at the moment most of my page incorporating the blog is still "hand-coded" - but fog was the only one to convince me even after some time gone by and which will lead to complete "migration" to wordpress now.

There are two things though that are somehow bothering me...perhaps it's intended though?
- in the general blog-view the columns are on the left and on the right side of the content. When changing into single-post-view both columns suddenly are on the right side of the content...and so if you change between both views keep on changing all the time which at least I (and some of my readers) find quite irritating. Well one can live with it if need be - but somehow can't fully believe this is a feature and not a bug? Am I wrong?
- in the single-post-view in the righternmost column the about widget suddenly is "lost"

all in all great theme anyways though - just would love it even more if these two things would be "different"

I am using your FOG theme. I've noticed that on the Internet Explorer browser, and some others like Safari, the Blog Description (which is the short statement below the Blog Title) is often displayed to the left and top of the Blog Title instead of being right justified below the Blog Title. When I click "Compatability View" on Explorer it fixes this problem and realigns everything.

What can I do so that the display looks the way it's supposed to all the time. Other people who view my site may not be aware of the Compatability View option on Explorer and so the Blog Title and Blog Description will just look cockeyed to them. I'm not even sure if other browsers like Safari have such an option. I am far from an expert in these matters.

Apparently things get displayed differently on newer browsers. So what changes can I make, if any?

Thank you, and I really like the FOG theme. Very nice looking.

Seems like your issues are not completely solved, as your site does not work in 1024px screen size anymore, right sidebar is pushed down under main area.
You might look into that.

It looks fine to me. I am on a 21" iMac @ 1680 x 1050 resolution. My Safari and Firefox browser windows extend the full width of the screen, therefore I see no problem

HOWEVER you are correct. If I change the resolution to 1024 x 768, OR change the width of the browser window to less than 1176 pxs, the right sidebar IS pushed down below the main content.

My question to you is can this be become a 'fixed width' theme at 1200pxs, instead of a fluid column theme? If so, what would I have to add or delete in the style.css and where? Something within the body like margin:1200px,?

Because it appears fine to me is not necessarily what my visitors might see if they do not have the same setup that I do. My goal is to get it right for all.

If this requires some "customizing" on your part to correct, please drop me a quote via my contact page on the site.

Hello once again milo

All my minor issuses have been resolved with your help and my tinkering around, with the exception of the Copyright issue.

As it currently is, at the bottom of the footer, in the center, it shows my site name then all of your credits. When I place the mouse over my site name, it displays Copyright©2008 (this is ok as long as someone hovers over the site name).

Ideally, what I would like it to display is Coyright©2008 newvox.org. along with your credits. Similar to how it shows on the bottom of this page. It is OK for me to have it centered and still display the mouse over info, to the left of your credits.

I hope this is a better explanation. Once again, Thank You for being there for us that are just beginning and for being an inspiration.

change the name of Blogroll widget to Externals?
edit either the widget title
or manually edit the h2 tag in the specific sidebar

show on page in footer, Copyright ©2008, before site name, instead of the popup when someone hovers over name.
specify that please, sorry, I have no clue what you want.
